Breckenridge is a small town in Colorado (USA). Breckenridge is the capital of Summit County. Founded in 1859 during the Colorado Gold Rush. The original population of the town is prospectors. The name is given in honor of John Breckinridge, Vice President of the United States. Over the 19th-20th centuries, more than 31 tons of gold were mined in the Breckenridge area. Currently, the mines are not working, some of them are open to tourists. The climate is alpine, the town is located at an altitude of 2900 meters above sea level. Here is one of the most visited ski resorts in the United States in recent years - Breckenridge Ski Resort. The resort is located on five peaks of the Tenmile Range - part of the Rocky Mountains. The ski season lasts from November to April. There are 32 lifts in total, 155 slopes in total at heights from 2926 m to 3962 m, the longest track is 5.6 km. The resort was founded in 1961 and is the foundation of the city's economic prosperity.
